Patrolling the traffic in all-weather conditions, the Czech Police Department needed to kit its officers with rugged devices that could make their work more efficient and contribute to making the Czech Republic’s roads safer. The public safety challenge
The Czech Republic needed to find a way of making their traffic police more effective in the fight against road casualties. They were looking for a reliable and versatile solution that would help their officers detect traffic violations, verify ID, scan license plates and transmit essential data more effectively.
The RuggON solution
RuggON were ready to take up the challenge with the PM-522. This tough tablet can operate across a wide range of temperatures, can withstand shock and vibration, is resistant to drops from up to six feet and the screen can be read in bright sunlight. It supports a range of applications with multiple port options – allowing it to be used with sensors, cameras and radars, and it’s compatible with a range of computing platforms. Furthermore, the 10” 4:3 LCD display of PM-522, the larger screen size provides better visual experience of the end user.
A RUGGED success story
There was a significant problem facing the Czech traffic police – too many people were dying on the roads. They needed a device that would allow them to detect and document violations committed on major routes. The PM-522 gave them this. It can be used in conjunction with detection tools such as radars to record crucial images of incidents, detect traffic violations, scan license plates and connect to the police database for real-time information. It also provides seamless and stable wireless communication links that give officers access to real time information.

The Czech police force is now using the PM-522 to support detection devices such as radars and speed cameras, and once the tablet is online, it can display information such as car model, license plate, speed, driver information and other details. This allows the officers to quickly determine if an offence has been committed and to set fines without wasting time on paperwork.
